A dream for bird lovers
National Park
The nature reserves and water landscapes of the Lower Odertal National Park provide an optimal habitat for over 280 different bird species, including more than 140 breeding birds, such as the corncrake or the sedge warbler, which finds its only retreat in Germany here. Endangered bird species such as the white-winged tern, white-whiskered tern or black tern find optimal breeding conditions in the wild nature and if you are lucky, you can also discover one or the other rare moorhen.
Here, nature is allowed to remain nature. And here you can experience something.
Early in the year, hundreds of rare Whooper Swans tune up for spring before heading to northern Europe. In autumn, the passage of thousands of geese, ducks and cranes can be observed. Every fall, the Lower Odertal National Park invites visitors to the Crane Weeks to observe the natural spectacle up close.
These are just a few examples of the species richness of the Uckermark and the Lower Odertal National Park. Observation towers and huts are available for the experience and undisturbed observation. This is barrier-free.
Our personal insider tip:
In addition to our Lower Odertal National Park, the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve near Angermünde is also a paradise for hikers and cyclists. Groups can also discover it by carriage or horse-drawn carriage!
And in case of bad weather: a trip to the interactive exhibitions of the NABU Nature Experience Center Blumberger Mühle, the main information center of the Schorfheide Biosphere Reserve.
Discover the slowness:
With the canoe through the Uckermark.
The unspoiled and seemingly untouched natural landscape can also be experienced on water trails: The Uckermark with its countless lakes, ponds and rivers and the extensive reed areas offers ideal conditions for canoe tours.
A visit is also worthwhile to the bird park Schwedt and the zoo Angermünde. In the extensive zoo enclosure of an old park landscape with about 250 animals in 45 species of all continents, the domestic biodiversity is still extended by some exotic animal species. Among others, guanacos, llamas and alpacas, as well as emus, nandus, coatis, raccoons can be admired here.
You love nature as much as we do? Do you like to be outdoors and enjoy your time off to the fullest? Then you are exactly right with us.
