It is only around ten kilometers from our country hotel near Lake Felchow to the historic old town of Angerm\u00fcnde, which can be easily reached by bus, bike or on foot. Almost two thirds of Angerm\u00fcnde’s urban area belong to the large protected areas of the Unteres Odertal National Park and the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve. The city itself acts as a bridge between the two national parks.<\/p>\n

Historic and wealthy Angerm\u00fcnde<\/h4>\n

The officially recognized resort town on the M\u00fcndesee is famous for its historic old town center, which has been continuously restored since the 1990s. The small streets, half-timbered houses and romantic courtyards give the town its special charm. The Uckermark House deserves special mention, as it is considered one of the oldest half-timbered houses in Angerm\u00fcnde and is now a modern culture and information center together with the Angerm\u00fcnde Museum and the tourist information center.<\/p>\n

Auf Initiative des Altk\u00fcnkendorfer K\u00fcnstlers Joachim Karbe treffen sich alle zwei Jahre Bildhauer aus ganz Europa zum Angerm\u00fcnder Hartgestein-Symposium. Als Material f\u00fcr ihre Arbeiten verwenden die K\u00fcnstler Findlinge. Large granite stones left here by the last ice age about 10,000 years ago. You can discover some of the towns artworks walking through the old town and along the charming M\u00fcndesee promenade.<\/p>\n

More than 775 years of city history<\/h4>\n

Angerm\u00fcnde’s eventful history dates back to the Middle Ages. The historic old town with its brick architecture is only one of the impressive witnesses of this past. Unmissable are the Franciscan monastery and one of the most important churches in the Uckermark, St. Mary’s Church, famous for its baroque organ by Joachim Wagner. St. Mary’s Church is the landmark of the city. It houses a collection of historical tombs and works of art from the 16th – 18th centuries.<\/p>\n

Culture against a unique backdrop can also be enjoyed at the Franciscan monastery, when the monastery church is transformed into a music and theater stage from May to September for the “Angerm\u00fcnder Klostersommer”. But even outside the concert season, the Franciscan monastery, considered one of the oldest monasteries in Germany, with its baroque bell tower and beautiful gardens, is highly recommended.<\/p>\n
